Labor Day is known more for than just a day to grill and cook hot dogs and hamburgers. This extended weekend leads many Americans to go travel and celebrate this symbolic day. It was not until 1938 that the first federally mandated wage of $0.25 was signed into law. The Union movement has progressively moved workers' rights forward since then.
Remember that Organized Labor means hard work but not at the cost of being deprived of your rights.
It's also a time to honor the millions of people who want to work but are unable to find jobs-working people didn't cause the economic crisis, but they certainly have paid a heavy price for it.
So this Labor Day season, I hope you will commit to being even more active than you've been in the past, and to help create an "America Wants to Work Union" campaign to demand that all our elected leaders focus their efforts on putting America back to working Union jobs.
The American middle class is under attack and it's time to rise up and resist any and all efforts to undermine this important and uniquely American segment of our great society. We must:
- Stop Right to Work- for less
- Stop the Outsourcing
- Stop the Insourcing
- Stop Freidrich's (Now Janus) Case Permanently
- Support the Call Center Bill
- Support PLAs
- Protect the Davis-Bacon Act
- Allow Workers to Organize Without Fear
- Pass HB 96 in Delware....
NEVER STOP FIGHTING, TOGETHER WE WIN! CWA STRONG! HAPPY LABOR DAY CWA LOCAL 13101!
