6-13 Report
President's Report – June 13, 2025
Today we received confirmation from the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) that a mediator will be assigned to assist in bargaining for both the Office of the State Bank Commissioners and Capitol Police units. This is a standard part of the process when the parties are at an impasse. The mediator will work with both sides to help move us closer to a fair contract.
In other areas, negotiations with Verizon over a contract extension are ongoing. The union and company continue to meet, and while we’re still working through some tough issues, we remain focused on getting a deal that protects and improves conditions for our members. I’ll update you as soon as there’s more to share.
For our DSP members, we officially sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Delaware State Police in response to a directive requiring a doctor’s note in advance for pre-approved sick time. This is a change in policy that crosses into bargaining territory, and we’re pushing back to defend your rights under the contract.
Lastly, to all the dads out there, I hope you get a chance to enjoy Father’s Day this weekend. The forecast might not be great, but I hope you still find some time to relax with your families.
Stay safe and stay united.
