June 6 update
President's Report – Week of June 3, 2025
This week, much of our focus remains on negotiations with Verizon. The union and the company will meet again today at noon to continue bargaining and see if we can come to any resolution on a contract extension.
I want to be clear, this union will not agree to an extension just to say we got one. Any extension must bring real value to the membership. We are committed to getting the best contract possible, and we will not accept anything that doesn’t meet that standard.
In addition to Verizon, I’ve been in contact with the Divisional Vice President of the Delaware State Police Civilian Unit this week, following up on a few ongoing internal concerns. We continue to work through those issues to ensure fair treatment and proper representation for everyone involved.
Mediation also remains ongoing for both the Office of the State Bank Commissioners and the Capitol Police Dispatchers. As we’ve said before, this process is expected to take time. We’re one of over 20 unions currently in mediation with the State of Delaware, so while progress is being made, it’s going to be slow. We’ll continue moving forward and keep everyone informed as things develop.
Lastly, I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the weekend and the summer-like weather. If there are any meaningful updates from bargaining over the weekend, I’ll send something out. In the meantime, please don’t forget to check the website for updates.
