Notice of Proposed Bylaw Amendments – CWA Local 13101

Attention Members:

At our last general membership meeting, member Jimmy Hummel made a motion to propose two amendments to the CWA Local 13101 bylaws. As required, we are providing official notice to the membership regarding these proposed changes.

Proposed Amendment #1 – Article 4: Local Union Structure

This amendment pertains to Article 4, Section C, Line 14, which currently states:

"North – South is determined by the C & D canal."

Proposed Change:
"North and South will be determined by county lines. The Northern division will be New Castle County. The Southern divisions will be Kent and Sussex Counties."

This change would revise how jurisdictional boundaries are defined within our union, shifting from a geographic reference point to official county lines.

*Please note: This proposed change affects union representation only and does NOT impact work location assignments under Verizon. Verizon retains the right to assign work within its designated service areas regardless of union divisional boundaries. This amendment strictly applies to how members are represented within the union’s internal structure.*

Proposed Amendment #2 – Article 13: Meetings

This amendment pertains to Article 13, Section 3, which currently reads:

"A quorum shall consist of 25 members in good standing, excluding executive officers."

Proposed Change:
"A quorum shall consist of 15 members in good standing, excluding executive officers and the executive board."

 

Both amendments will be presented for discussion and vote at an upcoming general membership meeting. We encourage all members to attend, ask questions, and participate in the democratic process.
